Amy Lee and Etana Jacobi, from the Kettering Foundation, will be making a presentation titled A Public Voice: Capturing Our Collective Insights on Police and Community Relations at the October 14-16, 2016 National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation (NCDD) conference in Framingham, Massachusetts. The following is a description of their presentation.

The David Mathews Center for Civic Life (DMCCL), based in Montevallo, Alabama, has launched an ambitious project to help residents of the state take stock of how well their communities are working for them; where people would like to see their communities be in the future; and how they might get there.

Applications are now being accepted (deadline is December 31, 2016) from individuals who are interested in being considered to receive a Taylor L. Willingham Legacy Fund grant. Grants are provided to individuals to enable them to develop an understanding of deliberative democracy and launch one or more deliberative dialogues in their communities and organizations in order to advance NIFI's overall mission, which is to promote public deliberation about national issues.

A two-day Deliberative Pedagogy workshop was held September 21st and 22nd, 2016 at Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. The workshop, titled Deliberative Pedagogy: Transforming Teaching and Learning...Elevating Student Achievement, featured interactive and dynamic processes aimed at increasing student engagement and improving content literacy skills.
