Issue Discussion Guide - "U.S. Government: What Kind of National Leadership Do We Need?"

This 2023 issue discussion guide was produced by the Southern Deliberative Democracy Network in partnership with the National Issues Forums Institute.
The guide presents three perspectives for consideration:
#1 American Patriotism and Values: What will it take to value the roots of the republic's democracy? how should our nation's core values of freedom and equal opportunity for all be protected?
#2 Exemplary Leadership: What presidential leadership qualities are needed for the United States in the 21st century? What leadership role should the United States play in the world?
#3 Accountability Under the Law: How do candidates articulate their understanding of the Constitution's First Amendment freedoms? Is the separation of powers as the Founders organized them functioning adequately?
