The Certificate Program for African engagement in the EU is a two-week long program specifically tailored around the needs of African individuals aiming to engage in any academic, professional, commercial and cultural activity within the European Union borders. The program features lectures, workshops, seminars and participants led by prominent experts in EU-related matters from the fields of academia, politics, diplomacy, business and civil society. During their time in Berlin participants will also have the opportunity to take part in cultural and social activities and to visit institutions such as the German Foreign Office, the German Parliament, the Berlin City Hall, cultural institutions, private businesses and Berlin-based embassies.
Academic Components
The Certificate Program for African Engagement in the EU consists of four types of academic activities: courses, workshops, action projects, and special events. Each participant will take part in obligatory scheduled courses and workshops, as well as conduct an action project in cooperation with a local NGO, business or specific community in Berlin, and will have the opportunity to attend all ICD conferences, events, lectures, and other academic activities. Participants will work closely with highly experienced professionals who are experts in their respective fields, all while enjoying a unique multicultural atmosphere.
All participants will be awarded an official certificate of attendance upon completion of the program, which will provide details of the speakers who took part and the topics discussed. Each certificate will be signed by members of the ICD's Advisory Board.
Courses
Courses have been designed to address the most important issues of European integration and enlargement among the global trend of regionalization. The development of knowledge and skills in the field of European Studies is nowadays essential for future careers, professional development, and a proper understanding of processes in the European region.
Admission
The Certificate Program is designed for students, professionals, and those who would like to enrich their background and enhance their education. Candidates are required to have an undergraduate degree of any field of study or to be enrolled as students in a university/higher education institute and/or to have a proven work experience and position in related fields, as a pre-requisite for application. Proficiency in English is also pre-requisite for application (Studies in English of at least 1 semester or extensive working experience in English are sufficient as proof of the English level).
